What Is a Chemical Face Peel Treatment?
Chemical face peel treatments address acne, sun damage, enlarged pores, blotchy skin, fine lines and wrinkles by exfoliating the skin through a chemical solution. When you visit our Edina office for a chemical peel, we’ll apply one of two ZO® Skin Health treatments, depending on the strength of treatment you’re seeking.
ZO® chemical peels are widely considered to be among the best in the industry — offering reliable, consistent results — and are designed to pair with ZO® Skin Health products to enhance your treatments. Read more about ZO® Skin Health.
- The Stimulator Peel, often called the “Red Carpet Peel,” gently yet effectively exfoliates the skin to improve tone, texture and clarity without downtime. It’s ideal for first-timers or anyone seeking a quick pre-event glow.
- The Ultimate 3-Step Peel is a powerful treatment that combines exfoliation, retinol and calming agents to target acne, melasma, sun damage, fine lines and rough texture. It delivers dramatic results by stimulating collagen and encouraging skin renewal, with several days of peeling expected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Redness, scabbing, and swelling are typical post-chemical peel side effects. Chemical peels may trigger outbreaks or infections.
Before you receive your peel, you should limit your sun exposure. Avoid self-tanners, waxing and any medicines that may act as a blood thinner.
Scheduling a series of chemical peels is often recommended for optimal results. Mild peels can be done every few weeks, while deep peels will need longer downtime between sessions.
Chemical peel aftercare is more about the don’ts than the dos. Give your skin some space. Don’t wash it with exfoliants or apply retinol, and try to avoid activities or environments that might cause you to sweat.
