Perlane® is an injectable dermal filler which restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds (the lines from your nose to the corner of your mouth). Perlane® is made from non-animal hyaluronic acid; therefore, it poses no risk of an allergic reaction and can be injected without pre- testing. Perlane injections are used by Dr. James R. Benjamin to fill deep facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds, sunken cheeks, and to augment the shape of the chin, cheeks and lips. Perlane is related to the popular hyaluronic acid filler Restylane.

The hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those found in Restylane. This gives Perlane additional ability to lift and fill the areas of injection that require a denser formulation. Perlane and Restylane are considered complements to one another.

Perlane® Treatments

An in-office procedure, Perlane® injections can take 30 to 45 minutes. It is injected directly into the skin at a deeper level than Restylane® using an ultrafine needle for minimum discomfort. In addition, a topical numbing cream or locally-injected anesthetic cream may be used.
