Belt Lipectomy
A Body Lift, also known as a "Belt Lipectomy", is like a facelift for the center body. The procedure is performed to remove the excess skin or
fatty tissue that exists on the body as a result of age or extreme weight loss. More extensive surgery than the tummy
tuck (Abdominoplasty), the body lift is performed on the lower torso and upper legs and involves the belly, hips, back, buttocks and outer
thighs.
There are several groups of candidates for the extensive surgery involved in a body lift. The first group includes patients who have lost a great
amount of weight, either through gastric bypass surgery, intestinal bypass surgery or change in nutrition and fitness habits. These people have
lost between 60 and 350 pounds, but are left with excess skin on their faces, breasts, backs, trunks and thighs. Many people who have lost this
much weight need plastic surgery to their entire bodies, including their arms and face, in order to attain normal body contours.
You may be a candidate for a body lift if you have excess body skin (frequently due to significant weight loss or post gastric bypass surgery).
The intended result of a body lift is a smoother, flatter abdomen and buttock tightening, diminishing of thigh cellulite and removal of back rolls
or excess back skin.
A Lower Body Lift
Significant weight loss is a tremendous accomplishment. The weight you have lost shows that you are dedicated to your health and well being. But
while you can lose weight, skin cannot be lost. Excess skin will hang over your frame, detracting from your achievement. The most common procedure
to correct for sagging skin is lower body lift.
The lower body lift has helped many people feel secure in their own bodies after significant weight loss. The procedure treats the entire lower
body, combining a tummy tuck with a thigh and buttock
lift, and targets the stomach, legs and behind.
Lower Body Lift Targeted Areas
- Abdomen
- Buttocks
- Genital Area
- Legs
- Lower Back
- Knees
Upper Body Lift
In an upper body lift, the arms are treated with an arm lift and the breasts are contoured with a breast lift. These
two surgeries can be performed separately or with lower body lift.
Total Body Lift Surgery
Total body lift surgery is helpful for patients who have lost skin elasticity all over their body. Excess skin can cause severe chafing and
discomfort, as well as prevent patients from wearing clothes in a smaller size. Total body lifts address every part of the body that commonly
accumulates fat and surplus skin: arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks can all be recontoured to achieve a smooth, trim, and lifted
appearance.
Though a total body lift is the most comprehensive way to rejuvenate your figure after massive weight loss, you need to take into account the
extended recovery period required for such complex surgery. You should be prepared to remain at home for up to six weeks after your total body
lift surgery and to follow all instructions given to you by Dr. Benjamin. Once the swelling has gone down and the
scars begin to fade, most people are extremely satisfied with their new appearance.
