"The first step I take in my plastic surgery process is to speak with my patients about their expectations," says Dr. James Benjamin. " It is critical that the patient and I are on the same page." This focus from the beginning helps patients to understand the process and excites them about the outcome.

"I believe in being completely honest about what can and cannot be achieved and I take the necessary time to counsel each patient accordingly." Says Dr. Benjamin. During the consultation process Dr Benjamin helps his patients to visualize what they are going to look like once the healing process is complete. "Cosmetic procedures require a sensitive approach and I like to keep my patients focused on the benefits that can result from it"
Dr. Benjamin is a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs the full range of "head to toe" procedures, including body contouring and abdominplosaty, rhinoplasty, and breast reductions and augmentations. As a graduate of Howard University in Washington D.C. Dr. Benjamin went on to serve in the United States Army for 10 years and he was the assistant Chief of Plastic Surgery at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He was the first black surgeon trained and board certified in plastic surgery in any of the Armed Services. While he has a diverse practice and sees a wide verity of patient, he has a wealth of experience in performing facelifts and mid-facelifts on African American patients" I find that the endoscopic facelift works much better with their skin pigmentation and helps to decrease scarring. It is important to consider the person's ethnicity when deciding which procedure will suit their look best," the doctor says.
